About Us

Since 1998, we have been working steadily to make everyday life easier for the citizens of Pilsen and the employees of the city’s organisations. Thanks to our long-term experience and knowledge of public services, we have come up with many technological innovations that support the development of a smart city.

We know how modern technology can help everyone – from schoolchildren to the elderly, from civil servants to entrepreneurs. We follow trends and technological developments, and in some areas, we are among the European leaders. We are not just waiting to see what others will do. Together with all the people of Pilsen, we are shaping the future of the city.

We make life easier

We develop talent

We inspire entrepreneurship

We have a clear vision of how modern technology can make life easier to everyone – from schoolchildren to the elderly, from civil servants to entrepreneurs. We know where trends and technological developments are heading, and in some areas, we are leading the way in Europe. Rather than waiting to see what other places will do, we are not afraid to create the future of the city.

We are committed to developing talent, especially in technical fields, and we try to guide children, teachers and parents to see technology not as something too complicated, mysterious or unmanageable, but as something that already is a part of our lives.

We inspire students and potential entrepreneurs to take their skills, ideas and abilities directly to the marketplace. We want to help those who have the desire and courage to turn their visions into reality.

Infrastructure

We build and operate the entire information infrastructure of the city. We support all users of municipal organisations. We facilitate the implementation of city agendas, electronic filing in offices, teaching with the help of modern technologies, or access to free wifi in sports grounds, parks and city buildings.

Open Internet of Things LoRa

Since January 2017, we have been operating an IoT communication network on the open LoRaWAN platform in the unlicensed 868 MHz band. We offer IoT access for students and startups to test HW and SW, more at iot.plzen.eu.

Data

Data is the basic fuel of a smart city. Data leads to information, which helps in decision-making. We can collect data, structure it and provide it to anyone who wants to work with it. Anyone interested in how Pilsen benchmarks with other Czech cities in the areas of health, transport, business or the environment can use the data portal tuta.plzen.eu to compare measurable indicators.

Those who want to improve living conditions in the city can use the plzni.to app, which collects suggestions for change. Those interested in open data can find it at opendata.plzen.eu.

City Information System

The City’s evolving information system, with hundreds of related applications, enables to carry out City services and agendas. Our clients are the statutory City of Pilsen and its organizations and citizens, entrepreneurs and visitors of the city. The key system is the Citizen Portal through which the City of Pilsen provides services to its citizens.

We draw inspiration for the development of the information system primarily from our clients, but also from the prestigious European HORIZON2020 (HORIZON EUROPE) programmes in which we are successfully involved – the PoliVisu Project, DUET, S4AllCities, Climaborough, URBREATH, and the recently launched SPARROW.

Festivals

We popularize new technologies and present them to the general public in an attractive way. Why do we do this? We stimulate interest in technology and encourage young people to study technical fields. Organising festivals is one of the most proven, tested and workable ways to develop a community of people interested in technical fields such as AI, VR/AR, BigData, 5G, IoT or robotics. From this community, which we build under the SIT Port brand, successful startup companies then emerge.

More information about the festivals can be found in the Festivals section.

PINE – the Pilsen Innovation Ecosystem

We develop, inspire and support innovators throughout their entire life cycle, from nursery to international expansion.

The Pilsen Innovation Ecosystem exists to attract more innovators, entrepreneurs and investors. All in the interest of the city’s future prosperity. The more talent and ideas, the more successful companies, the better we will live in Pilsen.

Higher value-added entrepreneurship, local investment in R&D, greater control over the product and sales chain, the headquarters and management of internationally successful companies employing well-paid professionals – this is the goal of the Pilsen Innovation Ecosystem, and this is why the City of Pilsen has focused on it.
