Centre of Robotics

The Centre of Robotics is a modern leisure centre focused on ICT and digital technology education. It offers after-school clubs and activities for children, educational workshops for teachers, programmes for primary and kindergarten classes.

Aims of the project:

To bring more children to technology through leisure education, clubs, competitions, and projects.

Results of the project:

The project has been running since 2016 and focuses on several areas within STEM education.

These are mainly interest after-school clubs for children to learn about modern technology, robotics, etc. For example, there is a club where children can build their own small drone and learn how to operate it, print the components on a 3D printer, assemble motors and electronics, learn how to solder, find out what regulators are for in motors, etc.

To support teachers of kindergartens and primary schools established by the city is another important activity of the Centre of Robotics. In this case, we try to bring modern interactive teaching technology to schools – we are the leader in the Czech Republic in terms of school equipment (we have more than 3000 PCs in schools, on average more than 14 interactive boards in each school, each teacher has his own PC, all schools are connected by fibre optics, data is stored in the data centre, etc.) and help teachers to master it and use it optimally in teaching. The third main activity is the introduction of robotics into the curriculum, either as a compulsory subject (Masaryk Primary School was the first school in Pilsen to teach robotics from the 2016/17 school year) or by diversifying activities in regular subjects.

Currently, more than 400 children a year attend the Centre of Robotics in clubs and over 100 children in day camps.
