SIT Port, the port open to anyone
SIT Port is the place to be if you’re looking to set sail in a new direction. Through SIT Port, we develop talent, work with a community of tech enthusiasts aged 16+, and inspire young entrepreneurs to create innovative tech start-ups. We are a hub for anyone who needs a space to tinker, waiting for an influx of new knowledge and experience from industry experts. We cheer on anyone who is not afraid to take on an opportunity, a real challenge. We are ready to point you in the right direction to make your dream come true.
Aims of the project:
The aim of the project is to develop a community of technically talented young people aged 16 and more, building on the work of the Centre of Robotics, which caters for children up to the age of 15.
At the same time, we want to create an inspiring environment and background for individuals with entrepreneurial ambitions – we want to help them start their own business and inspire them to create innovative start-ups in the city of Pilsen.
We implement the above objectives through a number of projects, Challenges being one of the most important of. Throughout the year, we work with local community organisations and businesses to find out what they are concerned about and what they really need to solve. We then present these challenges to members of our community who work to solve them. This way, they work on real projects, gain valuable contacts, get financial rewards, a first reference and the opportunity to get a prototype to start their own business.
Startup Weekends and Hackathons, where participants work intensively on a given project, and various workshops held in our SIT Port Garage, have also become very popular.

Results of the project:
Building community
A community is building around SIT, where professional mentors, our staff, freelancers from schools and technology companies, and enthusiasts from non-profit organisations meet to share their hands-on experience with kids and students interested in technology. We have created a platform that provides space, equipment and topics for technical education. A platform that creates more individuals with knowledge for the future.
We develop talent
We are helping to keep young people interested in technology and with the potential to work with technology in Pilsen. The key is the continuity of education from school age and the opportunity for growth, where a whole start-up business can gradually grow from clubs for children, projects for students. We strive for experiential learning. Our goal is to build really useful things (e.g. mobile apps) for talented people, not just because they enjoy it, but because they will be successful on a global scale.
We inspire entrepreneurship
Through the entrepreneurial development environment, we want to support the creation of innovative companies, their relocation to Pilsen and prevent the “brain drain” of promising entrepreneurs. We want to contribute to the reputation of Pilsen as a good place to do business. As a result of talent development, there are more young people with ideas and the drive to start their own business or become self-employed. Entrepreneurial potential also lies in those who are not satisfied as employees and want to realise their own projects.
