Horizon Europe Project URBREATH
We are the only country in the Czech Republic to participate in the second Horizon Europe project dealing with adaptation to climate change. The URBREATH project was launched in January 2024 and will run until the end of 2027. We represent Pilsen in a consortium of 37 partners from 12 European countries.
Aims of the project:
- To put into practice nature-based solutions to help with the regeneration of public spaces and the regeneration of the city with respect to climate neutrality.
- To involve citizens in the decision-making process, to identify their needs.
- To use modern technology.
Results of the project:
- To learn from pilot cities and put into practice workable and proven solutions that will help with urban regeneration and climate change adaptation.
- To develop participatory democracy.
- To use new technologies to strengthen the city’s position in the fight against climate change: use 3D city models (digital twin cities) for urban planning, assessing the quality and benefits of green spaces, simulation models for urban regeneration.
All members involved will work under the experienced guidance of the Lisbon Council. The URBREATH project is co-funded by the European Union under Grant Agreement No. 101139711. Like CLIMABOROUGH, it is funded by Horizon Europe, whose call HORIZON-MISS-CLIMA-CITIES-01 aims to develop a new strategy for urban regeneration in the face of the climate crisis. This European Union funding programme for research and innovation runs from 2021 to 2027. Pilsen’s budget within the URBREATH project amounts to more than 250,000 EUR.
